Doctor Beat P. Limoge 2022 : with Paco Dubas, Cédric Rouyer, Philippe Limoge Percussions
The starting point of the piece refers to the intelligent Doctor Beat metronome very often used by percussionists / drummers. Built on the principle of “Phase Shift”, the piece produces a multi-channel sound in space. The 3 percussionists build or deconstruct the set of drums and accessories (Bass Drum, Hi-Hat, Snare Drum, Toms, Cymbals…) on an ostinato which recalls the “beat repeat” of electronic music. These can sometimes be hypnotic. The dialogue is continuous and relayed by a multitude of sounds (sticks, skins, circles… ). The rhythms refer to the world of Jazz-rock. The piece requires a good technical level and a strong pulse …as the Doctor
